3D Product Launch Teaser Film

For the launch of the Fisher-Price Bluetooth Chatter Phone, and celebration of the 60th anniversary of the first Chatter Phone Toy, I was asked to put a modern twist on a classic product launch trope, the iconic “iPhone” reveal with a playful cinematic approach. The idea was simple yet effective.
To ensure my team captured the childhood nostalgia of the original toy while making the new launch fresh and relevant. The challenge, however, was 3D models created for toy production and 3D animation have different technical needs, so there was a fair amount of prep work on the geometry to make sure everything was aligned with both the production process and the animation treatment that the creative team and clients had envisioned.
With a little tongue n cheek, the final treatment gradually revealed the product, keeping it semi-obscured, while slowly unveiling more key details of the form. This was achieved through the use of dramatic rim lit elements, intense lighting highlights, and strong shadows. This technique allowed us to tease the silhouette, building suspense and excitement.
The result was a beautifully crafted product launch video that not only stood out in a crowded market but was also nominated for a Cannes Lion Award. It was an incredibly fun experience that brought together timeless design, animation, with the perfect blend of nostalgia and innovation.
